Behind the Song

Sometimes the greatest things we find in life are the things we weren't looking for.

Came Looking For Texas is a heartfelt tribute to friendship, music, and the unexpected bonds that shape our lives. It was inspired by the journey of starting over in a new place, arriving in Texas searching for a fresh beginning, and discovering something far more valuable, a musical family built on trust, loyalty, laughter, and a shared love of creating something meaningful together.

The song is about what happens when different personalities come together and somehow become something greater than themselves. Through late-night rehearsals, endless teasing, hard work, disagreements, laughter, and unforgettable memories, the realization slowly sets in that home is not always a place. Sometimes home is the people who stand beside you through every song, every challenge, and every dream.

At the heart of the song is the line, “I found home in our three-part harmony and a couple stubborn hearts.” That line says exactly what this song means to me.

I came looking for a melody, a place to hang my hat, and a new beginning. I found two voices in the distance, people who understood the music, understood the dream, and somehow understood me too.

Some people find fortune. Some strike oil or gold. I found friendship, music, and people who became family.

Every song we have written, every laugh, every disagreement, every late night, and every memory became another thread tying us together.

That is what Came Looking For Texas is really about, gratitude, perseverance, friendship, and the rare gift of finding people who truly understand you.

Because sometimes you come looking for Texas...

...and find so much more.
